Lakewood High School is pleased to provide a learning opportunity for students who have credits to make up outside of the regular school day. Because there are few options for credit recovery, this program is designed to work with our own students to assist them in meeting graduation requirements on time. Should your student be unsuccessful in this program, we will be happy to discuss alternatives within the District.
Due to the cost ($75 per course) and limited number of spaces available in this program, there are very strict student requirements for your participation. I acknowledge that in order to maintain my standing in the LHS Credit Recovery Program, I will adhere to the following:

Failure to meet any of the aforementioned criteria will be grounds for dismissal from the LHS Credit Recovery After-Hours Program. At that time we will need to explore alternative educational options.

Due to the cost ($75 per course) and limited number of spaces available in this program, there are very strict student requirements for your participation. I acknowledge that in order to maintain my standing in the LHS Credit Recovery Program, I will adhere to the following:
Registration:
- You can only register for one course per night. You must pay for the class at registration or sign a payment plan outlining specific payment due dates. If you stop attending or are dropped from a course due to non-attendance or behavior issues, you are still required to pay for the class. There will be NO REFUNDS.
- Attendance is mandatory for the ENTIRE two hour session each week.
- Once you exceed 3 absences (including excused and unexcused), you will be dropped from the class with a failing grade. To excuse absences a PARENT must email their child’s teacher before class begins.
- Students are expected to leave class directly after their session has ended, and will not be permitted to remain in the building beyond 10 minutes after the session.
- Students are expected to have a minimum 80% attendance rate in all of their other classes. This translates to no more than 3 unexcused absences per six-week grading period for any given class. Three tardies will count as 1 unexcused absence.
- If you are asked to leave a session due to a rule infraction, it will count as an absence regardless of the amount of time you have attended that night.
- On the third time you are asked to leave after-hours for a rules infraction, you will be dropped from the program with a failing grade.
- After-hours is a Lakewood High School program, and you are bound by the Code of Conduct you signed. If there is a problem with drugs and/or alcohol, the authorities will be contacted.
- Students are expected to be responsible for their own work and not plagiarize.
- Students are expected to:
- pass all classes in which they are enrolled
- finish credit recovery work in a timely manner
- All credit recovery work must be completed at a high level. Students will only be able to make up the equivalent of 2% per night attended if they scored above a 40% in their original class.
- If a student had a 40% or lower in their original class, they will be expected to complete 70% of the total points for that course, and attend all 10 weeks. Work will need to be completed outside of scheduled class time.
- Once a course is completed, another course may be added depending on the how much time there is remaining in the semester, payment, and teacher discretion.
- If the course is completed within the expected time frame, and the student has adhered to the guidelines above, the student will receive a refund of $50 from their original $75 course fee. This refund will take place in the form of a credit to your school account.
- If the student has completed their course, and no longer needs credit recovery they will no longer be expected to attend their after-hours session.
Failure to meet any of the aforementioned criteria will be grounds for dismissal from the LHS Credit Recovery After-Hours Program. At that time we will need to explore alternative educational options.
